Venture Capital World Summit is a mission driven company. Behind this unique idea stands Elio Assuncao. He genuinely figured out that quality networking and valuable business relationships has nothing, or not a lot, to do with big conferences where you can hardly remember who you met not even saying about remembering all names and introductions.
The real value of creating relationship between investors and founders is when it’s happening during exclusive, participants limited gathering. You have then time to spend quality time with the person that you found interesting and not to jump from one table to the other during the speed dating networking.
And that’s exactly what happened during the VCWS in Paris.
It was extremely inspiring meeting where we could introduce our ideas, interests and dig deeper into the potential business relationships.
I, together with Karen Wendt, had a great pleasure to represented Swiss FinTech Ladies association and share our mission to increase women in VC as well as female founders ratio on the market. I guess, I do not need to mention that it was still majority of men in the room but there are more and more women raising their hands and speaking about their business ideas and/or investing opportunities. Also, it’s not only about women, it’s to increase diversity on the market and make it more inclusive. All minorities and underrepresented groups should find their place at the table and be equally considered while discussing venture investing opportunities. That’s a long way ahead but it’s already happening and every single supportive initiative is greatly appreciated.
P.S. Check out the #VCWS schedule for Berlin, Brussels, Cardiff, Hong Kong, London, New York, Seul, Silicon Valley, Tokyo and Toronto 🙂
