Switzerland is making more and more startups go out of the country and grow globally. This time, I’d like to shortly introduce 10 startups that will fly to China to learn about onsite ecosystem and find potential business partners and/or clients. This week Venturelab hosted an exceptional happening presenting the Swiss National Startup Team selected out of dozen applications. I’m happy to notice that there is one female representative so the diversity is there and not only when it comes to different markets taken into account but also age age, nationality and gender. I’m gonna follow the early startups to see how successful they will become within a few years given the Chinese market is not so easy to conquer 🙂 It’s gonna be fascinating journey!
The evening started with Keynote Speach by Sadik Hafizovic.
He is co-founder and CEO Zurich Instruments AG, an ETH spinoff founded in 2008. Today the company counts 70 people in 6 countries globally. The company serves advanced research laboratories world-wide with best-in-class measurement instruments which I totally do not get from the first sight but it sounds advanced and super helpful for the R&D centres. In his keynote he shared his lessons learnt building a globally active company and focused mostly on the extremely challenging hiring process. People are the key in every business and if you find good ones who shares your passion, it’s already a great success. Keeping the ‘houses'(this is how they call offices) in different parts of the world, embracing various cultures is an amazing adventure and never ending learning path.
It was followed by Mark Forster representing Adello Group.
He is a real serial entrepreneur, investor and digital space veteran (he really know a thing or two about it). He co-founded several companies, including Onemotion, a mobile marketing development company, which was acquired by Goldbach. He talked about his Adello and how it feels like to becoming a global player in the field of Mobile marketing. Mark is extremely inspirational person having huge respect to others, appreciating what he has built with his people and sharing reading list in case you are looking for something to learn from about the life, startups and business.
The Venture Leaders China team 2019 will be travelling to China for a roadshow in June and they will be presenting their companies at the Startup Champions event.
