Rebuilding the American Arsenal: A Strategic Roadmap for a U.S. Manufacturing Renaissance

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐒 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐀 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩…

I was reading a lot about how we became 𝑨 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 and 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝑳𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒕𝒔 𝑶𝒘𝒏 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 and I put together 40 pages booklet titled:

‘𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥: 𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞’

For decades, a quiet hollowing out of American industry has been underway. It wasn’t a single event, but a series of deliberate choices that led us to a startling reality: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 on a strategic rival for the very goods that underpin our economy and national security.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞? 𝐈𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠!

➡️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 “𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸”: The granting of Permanent Normal Trade Relations to China in 2000 triggered a catastrophic decline, leading to the loss of nearly 6 million‼️ U.S. manufacturing jobs between 2000 and 2010.

➡️ 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁: Today, the U.S. sources an estimated 𝟗𝟕% ‼️of its antibiotics and 95% of its ibuprofen from China. Our medicine cabinet is effectively controlled from abroad.

➡️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐎𝐢𝐥: China has a near-monopoly on the refining of Rare Earth Elements (𝟖𝟕-𝟗𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭), the critical minerals that power everything from our smartphones and EVs to our most advanced defense systems.

➡️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗚𝗮𝗽: While the U.S. invented the semiconductor, our share of global manufacturing has collapsed from 𝟯𝟳% 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝟭𝟮%. Meanwhile, China has invested over $150 billion to dominate the industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a brutal wake-up call, exposing the fragility of ourlong-distance supply chains. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐲?🤔
The challenge is immense, with a looming workforce crisis that threatens to leave over 2 million manufacturing jobs unfilled by 2030 but a lot od amazing people I’ve met are working to fix it! 🙏

In my full analysis, I dive deep into the 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 required to secure America’s manufacturing future. From embracing Industry 4.0 to forging a 21st-century workforce, the path forward is complex but critical.
